Akufen will soon be ready with a new EP on Karat Records. Seemingly the tracks are in the mastering process…
Akufen on his South American tour coming weeks featuring following events:
The release is comprised of a selection of tracks from 2013’s Briefly Eternal, that have been given a fresh remix treatment. Label co-founder Zip (under his Dimbiman guise) offers a rare contribution, and is joined by three artists new to the tight-knit Perlon family. German trio Brandt Brauer Frick’s input completes the A-side, leaving an all-Canadian B-side made up of remixes by Magnanime and Stephen Beaupré, both of whom are staples of the Montreal scene, alongside Leclair himself.
Glass Piano Versions, a remixes EP based off Bruce Brubaker’s InFiné Music-issued interpretations of Philip Glass, is due in October.
Brubaker, a NYC-based pianist who’s known Glass, and performed his works, for years, linked up with InFiné for Glass Piano, released just a few months ago. That set of solo piano interpretations has now been given over to a wide-ranging group of remixers, who were invited to “bring their own consciousness” to bear, according to a press release. Four longtime producers are involved: Akufen, John Beltran, Francesco Tristano (who studied under Brubaker at the Julliard School in New York; the two still play together on occasion) and Plaid. “InFiné’s youngest protégé” Julian Earle leads off, and another lesser-known artist, Biblo, from Turkey, makes an appearance as well.
This Friday October 2nd Vincent Lemieux and Akufen are joining Zip and Sammy Dee for the October edition of …get perlonized at Panoramabar in Berlin.
